Ginelle Nicolás Quintet
This band, made up of international musicians, young and old, will offer us a session of their own songs and versions, in jazz key; full of warmth, strength and virtuosity, his music will make us dream, dance and smile.
GINELLE NICOLÁS: CANTANTE.
Born and raised in New York City, graduating in the music department of this city. In Spain, she as an outstanding soloist in the Madrid Gospel Choir. She has performed in Madrid from the Nuevo Apolo to the Teatro Real. Now we can enjoy her talent in select places in Mallorca with her quintet.
PIERRE BAUZERAND: PIANO.
At the early age of 12 he entered the “Marciac” jazz school (France). Surrounded by musicians such as Jean Pierre Peyrebelle, Pierre Boussaget or Tonton Salud, he delves into this genre. He continues his studies at the Toulousse Jazz Conservatory. In 2012 he decided to travel around the world, landing in New York and later in London, to play with musicians of the stature of James Camack, Ahmad Jamal or Jackson Scott, as well as to participate in the Jazz in Marciac festival.
TOÑO MARQUEZ: BATERÍA.
Born in Génova (Mallorca), he is one of the island’s leading drummers. He started playing drums at 16 years old. During his career he played different styles; Rock, Blues, Pop, Folk, Jazz fusion. He has collaborated with artists such as Molly Duncan, Chano Domínguez, Peter Getz, Chenoa, Café Quijano, Anegats, Jaime Anglada and so on. As well as in different musicals.
ROBERTO UKE: SAXOFÓN.
Born in Mallorca with French origins, he began to play the saxophone at 15 years. Later he moves to the Canary Islands where he plays with the renowned Uruguayan jazz and Latin music pianist Alberto Dogliotti. He collaborates with the Cuban Latin jazz group of the pianist Chucho Valdés “Ikarere”, alongside the international singer Deborah Carter as well as in different jazz festivals in Madrid, Orense, Oviedo and Melilla. In Son Amar he has accompanied artists such as Concha Buika, The Drifters, The Platers, Paloma or Mike Pidone, among others.
ALAIN MARTIN: CONTRABAJO.
Born in Paris, he went to live in Portugal where at the age of 8 he began to study guitar, going through all musical styles. At 23 years old, passionate about jazz, he falls in love with the double bass. He moved to Barcelona to study at the Liceo and at the Taller de Musics with the Cuban Luis Cojal, the Italian Giulia Valle and the Argentine Horacio Fumero. With the Skunk Quartet group, he wins the first and second place in the first Majorca jazz contest. He currently lives on the island.
